Prof. Rainer Schulin

Together with Bernhard Plattner, emeritus professor of Computer Engineering and Networks Laboratory, Rainer Schulin is available as trusted intermediary to researchers at ETH Zurich with immediate effect.

The trusted intermediaries offer advice, support and mediation with regard to integrity in research and good scientific practice. They are the points of contact if there is any suspicion of incorrect behaviour in connection with research. If a notification is received, they assess the situation using a defined procedure. Depending on the case, an investigation commission is formed before a decision is made by the university management. The ETH will report any cases where there is a serious misconduct in research, which is considered a criminal offense under federal or cantonal criminal law.

In addition to the trusted intermediaries, there are the ETH ombudspersons. They ensure the rights of ETH members in conflicts and check complaints. Both bodies work independently of ETH administration.
