Ulrike Lohmann elected into SNSF Research Council

The Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) has elected three female researchers as new members of the Research Council. Ulrike Lohmann will take over from Urs Baltensperger.

Ulrike Lohmann, Professor for Experimental Atmospheric Physics in the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science (IAC), is the new Research Council member for environmental sciences from 1st of October in 2018 onward. Lohmann will replace Urs Baltensperger, who is an adjunct professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science.  

The SNSF has also selected Claudia Mareis from the University of Applied Sciences (FHNW) for arts and Eszter Hargittai, University of Zurich, for communication and media studies.

The National Research Council is responsible for evaluating research proposals and making funding decisions. It is composed of about 100 distinguished researchers, most of whom work at Swiss higher education institutions. The Research Council is supported by 90 evaluation bodies comprising over 700 members.
