How many earthworms live in this soil? How often does this cow chew? Is the insect on this apple tree a pest or beneficial insect? This summer, the Agora project PubliFarm invited the public to do their own research. During five days of research on farms in the German-speaking part of Switzerland, an interested audience was given the opportunity to find out for themselves.

During the research days, the visitors were supported by young researchers from D-USYS. The scientists showed, discussed and placed the findings in the context of sustainable agricultural production. This is what PubliFarm is all about: facilitating a dialogue between consumers, agricultural researchers and farmers and contextualized agriculture within the frame of biodiversity and climate change. While hosting farm tours, farmers were able to answer many practical questions.

In addition to the research days, PubliFarm is also present with an interactive exhibition at public fairs to encourage consumers to engage in sustainable food shopping.

PubliFarm is a natural science educational project of the teacher training institution for the north-western Switzerland educational area (PH FHNW) and the Grassland Sciences Group of ETH Zurich funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
