Seven «Highly Cited Researchers 2018» from D-USYS

Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science

Seven researchers from the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS) are «Highly Cited Researchers 2018». This makes each of them one of about 6,000 scientists worldwide whose publications rank among the top 1% of the most frequently cited papers in their respective fields. Congratulations!

Overall, a total of 18 professors from ETH Zurich and associated research institutes made it onto the list of the most cited researchers worldwide. Of these, seven are full professors and four are adjunct professors at our department.

  • Jonathan Levine, Professor for Plant Ecology at the Institute of Integrative Biology (IBZ)
  • Ulrike Lohmann, Professor for Atmospheric Physics at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate (IAC)
  • Christoph Schär, Professor for Climate and Water Cycle at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate (IAC)
  • Sonia Seneviratne, Professor of Land Climate Dynamics at the Institute for Atmosphere and Climate (IAC)

«This list is remarkable», says Nina Buchmann, Head of Department and also ranked in the Highly Cited Researchers 2018 List. «As a representative of D-USYS, I am proud of our increasing group of distinguished researchers who are having such an impact on the global science community.» Now in its fifth year, the citation analysis by Clarivate Analytics identifies influential researchers, as determined by their peers, around the globe − those who have consistently won recognition in the form of high citation counts over a decade.
