In his thesis "Reducing Pesticide Use Risks: An Economic Analysis", Möhring analyzed effective and efficient pesticide use decisions. The goal of his work was to inform policy makers on how to design and implement efficient and effective pesticide policies to reduce environmental and health risks. Möhring used economic analysis and quantitative methods for this purpose, focusing on the European context.

Multiple awards

The thesis was written under the supervision of Robert Finger, Chair of the Agricultural Economics and Policy Group at ETH Zurich. The researchers met with great interest with their topic: The reduction of risks from the use of pesticides is not only currently being intensively discussed in Switzerland, it is also a top priority of agricultural policy worldwide. Möhring's doctoral thesis received not only the Hans Vontobel Prize but also the SIAF Prize of the Swiss Institute for International Studies. Möhring also received funding from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) and a Marie Curie Fellowship.

After studying in Münster (D), Wageningen (NL) and Bonn (D), Möhring started his doctoral studies in Robert Finger's group at ETH Zurich in 2016. Currently Möhring is a postdoctoral Fellow of the Swiss National Science Foundation at the Centre d'Etudes Biologiques de Chizé at the CNRS (Centre national de la recherche scientifique) in France.
