The Agricultural Sciences of ETH Zurich at the WEF 2022

On the occasion of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin and around sixty other high-ranking guests from politics, research and business visited an exhibition at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF). There, among others, the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS) gave an insight into its research in the field of agricultural sciences.

The exhibition at the WSL Institute for Snow and Avalanche Research (SLF) was entitled: "Innovations from the ETH Domain: Insights into Research in the Service of Switzerland". Following an invitation of the ETH Board, D-USYS, among others, presented its research. The exhibits, originally developed for the 150th anniversary of Agricultural Sciences, offered an exciting insight into modern agricultural sciences. Nina Buchmann, Professor of Grassland Sciences and former Department Head at ETH Zurich, explained the SwissFluxNet, the challenges of agricultural policy and the influence of different animal feeds on methane emissions, milk production and animal welfare in cows to the interested visitors.

The universities and research institutes of the ETH Domain presented themselves to Swiss politics, research and business on occasion of the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2022. Among the guests were not only Federal Councillor Guy Parmelin, but also several members of the National Council and the Council of States, the State Secretary for Education, Research and Innovation Martina Hirayama, several members of the Graubünden government, the presidents of the two federal universities and the ETH Board, as well as the directors of the research institutes PSI, Empa, Eawag and WSL.
