Virginia Molin wins Esri Young Scholar Award 2023 for Switzerland

Virginia Molin, an environmental science student at D-USYS, wins the Esri Young Scholar Award 2023.  

How do mountain bikers move through the Jurapark Aargau? To find out, Virginia Molin used spatial data from various platforms. In collaboration with the Jurapark Aargau, she used various methods to map and analyze hot spots in mountain bike trails. Finally, she verified her work with a site visit. The award-​winning work is entitled "Mountain Bike Trails in Jurapark Aargau - GIS-​based Analysis of Usage Density".

The award recognises outstanding bachelor's and master's theses from around the world and is presented by Esri Inc (Environmental Systems Research Institute) - an US geographic information systems (GIS), location intellicengy and map desgin company. Along with 26 other students from around the world, Virginia was invited to the Esri International User Conference in San Diego, where she received the 2023 Young Scholar Award on 12 July.
