Additional information
Research area
Marco Griepentrog is generally interested in terrestrial biogeochemistry and studies the interactions between plants, soil and atmosphere on a molecular basis. In particular, he is interested in the isotopic composition and turnover of specific biomarkers in terrestrial ecosystems. Thereby, he applies state-of-the-art analytical techniques such as compound-specfic isotope-analysis (13C, 14C).
Marco Griepentrog obtained a PhD in “Soil Science and Biogeochemistry” from the “University of Zurich”. Thereafter, he received two “Postdoc Mobility Fellowships” from the “Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF)” to lead research projects at the “Isotope Bioscience Laboratory (ISOFYS)” at “Ghent University” in Belgium and a “Return CH Advanced Postdoc Fellowship” from SNF to conduct research at the “Department of Earth Sciences” at “ETH Zurich”. Currently, he acts as a scientist and lab manager for the recently established research group "Soil Resources" at the "Department of Environmental Systems Science" and is part-time affiliated with the "Biogeoscience" group at the "Department of Earth Sciences".
