Climate policy, distributional justice, public preferences, survey research
Kristiina focuses on the distributional aspects of climate policy, trying to understand the interactions between policy and energy system designs, and their justice implications. Through her research, she hopes to bring elements of social justice into the energy policy literature for a smoother and more just transition.
Prior to joining the Climate Policy Lab, Kristiina worked on climate policy from a practioner’s perspective. She worked at the Estonian Ministry of Climate, advising policy-making on topics, such as climate legislation, greenhouse gas accounting, the just transition, and several EU climate initiatives. She led the Ministry’s climate law initiative and the open climate data platform to make Estonia’s greenhouse gas data publically accessible. She also has several years of experience in teaching, working as a Geography teacher and developing a high school level course on climate change in collaboration with the non-profit organisation Mondo Global Education.
Kristiina has a Natural Sciences background, having completed her Master’s degree at the University of Oxford, focussing on oceanography and climate science.
