The Pathogen Ecology group studies how microorganisms interact and evolve. Current projects include:

  • How personalised is evolution within your microbiome? (with Mathilde Boumasmoud)
  • How does MRSA interact with other microbes in the human nasal passage? (with Anaëlle Fait and Laura Brülisauer)
  • How do antibiotic resistance genes spread in gastrointestinal microbiomes? (with Ricardo León Sampedro, Manu Tamminen and Adrian Egli)
  • How does horizontal gene transfer shape microbial community structure? (with Ayush Pathak)
  • What makes a successful plasmid? (with Fabienne Benz)
  • Developing visualisations for teaching in evolutionary medicine (with Helena Klein, Julia Chatain, Anouk N'Guyen van Chinh and Anton Bolfing)
