Additional information
Christoph Vorburger leads the Evolutionary Ecology research group at EAWAG's Aquatic Ecology Department and is an Adjunct Professor (Titularprofessur) at the Institute of Integrative Biology (IBZ) at ETH Zürich (D-USYS).
Born in Altstätten, Switzerland on 28 November 1971, he studied Biology at the University of Zurich, where he did his PhD with Prof. Uli Reyer at the Institute of Zoology. After his PhD he worked as a postdoc with Dr. Paul Sunnucks at La Trobe University Melbourne, Australia. In 2004 he returned to Zurich and worked as a Senior Research Associate at the Institute of Zoology of the University Zurich. From 2009 until 2015 Christoph Vorburger was SNSF Professor for Evolutionary Ecology at ETH's IBZ.
Christoph Vorburger's research is concerned with the evolution of alternative reproductive modes (sexual vs. asexual reproduction) and with the study of biological interactions that maintain genetic diversity in natural populations. He is particularly interested in insect host-parasitoid interactions and how these interactions are mediated by the host's endosymbionts.
