Retired Adjunct Professor at the Department of Environmental Systems Science

Additional information

Peter Reichert studied theoretical physics at the University of Basel, where he also received his PhD degree in 1985 with a thesis in the field of theoretical solid state physics. He then moved to Eawag where he initially did research in river water quality modelling and later extended his research field to modelling and systems analysis of aquatic systems and to the use of these techniques for decision support. From 1994 to 1999 he was member of the management committe of the Department of Computer and Systems Sciences, before he became head of the newly founded Department of Systems Analysis, Integrated Assessment and Modelling at Eawag. From 2005 to 2015 he was a member of the directorate of Eawag. Since 1991 he has been a lecturer and since 2002 an adjunct professor at ETH Zurich, initially in the field of mathematical modelling of aquatic systems and later in systems analysis and decision support.

His research focuses on building mathematical models to gain knowledge about important mechanisms in aquatic systems, applying statistical techniques to analyse and improve the knowledge gained from measured data, and compiling scientific knowledge in integrative models for decision support.

Peter Reichert is retired since July 2022, but still active in research. More information on current projects and publications can be found on his more detailed homepage (https://peterreichert.github.io) or on Google Scholar.
