On the path to be equipped with scientific knowledge/foundations to tackle the climate crisis

We were thrilled to kick off the first in-person module of the third cohort of CAS ETH in Climate Innovation 2025! Our weekend was packed with insightful sessions, as well as with a strong focus on the scientific knowledge surrounding the climate crisis.

In this weekend’s sessions, the participants were engaging in a varied programme that not only diagnosed the state of the climate crisis but also discussed potential solutions and cures. These scientific foundations are required to make informed decisions, as well as to develop effective strategies for addressing climatechange.

We were benefiting from the expertise of numerous leading scientists, for example contributing with insights from the IPCC, and from modeling future climate. Many thanks go to Prof. Niki Gruber, Prof. Sonia Seneviratne, Dr Jan Rajczak, and Dr Cyril Brunner!

Additionally, we tackled related key questions, such as:

  • How to foster meaningful conversations about climate change?
  • How to identify stakeholder interactions in complex problems?
  • How to integrate climate justice in the discussions?

These topics were explored in depth during sessions with Dr Anais Sägesser, Dr Carole Rapo, and Dr Pius Krütli, providing us with valuable perspectives and actionable strategies.
