The Bachelor's degree program teaches the basics of natural, social and agricultural sciences. The aim is to acquire a broad knowledge of various agricultural disciplines. The acquired knowledge during the course is deepened through excursions and the agricultural internship.

Scope and duration of the Bachelor's degree programme

180 CP are required to obtain the Bachelor's degree. The course is designed for a standard period of study of three years, with a maximum permitted duration of five years.

Structure of the Bachelor's programme

1st to 2nd semester

In the first year of study, students learn the fundamentals of mathematics, natural sciences and social sciences in order to understand relevant natural, technical and social systems. The Bachelor's degree courses in Agricultural and Environmental Sciences are largely similar in the first year, and it is generally possible to change unconditionally after the first year. Students can contact the course coordinator at any time if they have any questions.

3rd to 6th semester

In the second and third year, the subjects are increasingly focused on Agricultural Science topics. The subjects belong to one of the three fields: Agricultural Economics, Plant Sciences and Animal Sciences. While the courses of the second year are still predetermined, in the third year students can choose from different courses within the majors. Excursions and an agricultural internship are part of the curriculum and provide a link to agricultural practice in Switzerland.

The Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences entitles students to enroll for the Master's programme in Agricultural Sciences. The professional qualification is only achieved with the Master's degree.
