Graduation ceremony 2025
The next Master’s degree graduation ceremony will take place on 13 June 2025.
To participate in the graduation ceremony the following criteria must be fulfilled by 7 April 2025:
• You have received the ECTS for your professional internship (report and survey completed).
• You have received a grade for your Master's thesis.
• You fulfill the amount of credit points in each required category.
• You have made your degree request via myStudies.
Degree request
- Before requesting your Master's diploma, you must have obtained a minimum of 120 credits, as described in the Download Programme Regulation (PDF, 729 KB) (after any credits from professional internship are awarded).
- The request must be made via myStudies. How can I submit the degree request?

Final academic record
All graduates are given a final academic record. The final academic record lists those courses for which the student selects the option "Academic record" in their degree request, up to a maximum of 130 credits. On request (option "Addendum"), other study achievements can be listed on a separate sheet accompanying the academic record. Study achievements marked with "Nowhere" on the request will disappear from the academic record entirely. The final academic record lists your major and any minors by name. The overall average grade is calculated as the weighted mean of the individual grades on the academic record. The weight attached to each individual grade is based on the number of credits assigned to the course to which it relates. Your ranking in your year of graduation (in comparison with other graduates who have received their final academic record over the last 11 months) is based on your overall average grade. Along with their final academic record, graduates also receive an English "transcript of records".
Degree certificate
Graduates receive a degree certificate (optionally in German, French or Italian) and a Diploma Supplement. The Diploma Supplement describes the courses you attended in English during your Master’s degree programme – and also, in German, the German-language courses. Your degree certificate will only mention your major.
Academic title
The Master’s degree entitles students to use the following academic title: Master of Science ETH in Environmental Sciences (for short: MSc ETH Environmental Sc.)
The academic title in German: Master of Science ETH in Umweltnaturwissenschaften (for short: MSc ETH Umwelt-Natw.)
