Bachelor’s degree

After successfully obtaining the required 180 credits, students can apply to the Agricultural Sciences Student Administration Office for the Bachelor’s degree.

The Bachelor's degree must be applied for no later than five years after commencement of the Bachelor's programme. A maximum of 190 KP can be listed in the final certificate. Further services can be marked in the application and then appear on the supplementary sheet.

The overall average for the Bachelor's degree is calculated from the (CP) weighted grades of all subjects credited in the certificate. For block examinations, the grade average of the block, weighted with the total number of CPs, applies.

Degrees with an overall average of 5.75 and higher are shown on the diploma as “degree with distinction”.

Academic title

The Bachelor’s degree entitles students to use the following academic title: 

  • German - Bachelor of Science ETH in Agrarwissenschaften
  • English - Bachelor of Science ETH in Agricultural Sciences
  • The title in the short form is "BSc ETH Agr. or BSc ETH"

Further Information

Holding the ETH Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Sciences guarantees access to the ETH Master’s programme in Agricultural Sciences, without additional requirements. Students can enrol for the Master’s programme as soon as they require no more than 32 credits to complete the Bachelor’s diploma.

A maximum of the following credits may be missing in the following course unit categories:

  • Agricultural sciences fields - 12 CP
  • Bachelor's thesis - 14 CP
  • Electives - 6 CP

In this case, admission is provisional until the Bachelor’s degree has been conferred.

NB: If the student submits a degree request, without being enrolled in a Master’s programme at the ETH, they will be dematriculated. They can start their subsequent Master’s programme in Agricultural Sciences in the Autumn or Spring Semester.
