Agricultural internship
The Agricultural Internship is a compulsory part of the Bachelor's degree programme. It includes a preparatory phase, a placement period on a farm in Switzerland, and a follow-up phase.
In this course, students connect the subject knowledge acquired during their studies with practical agriculture in Switzerland. Students are expected to work on tasks related to the farm and are encouraged to pursue an ongoing dialogue with the farmer and the farm's stakeholders. By doing so, the agricultural internship promotes system-oriented critical thinking and allows students to engage with and consider real issues related to running a farm. Additionally, they reflect upon and present their internship experiences.
The course Agricultural Internship consists of
- a preparatory phase, which includes an information event, the attendance of Agro Day I, seeking a suitable farm for the placement period as well as training days related to the internship stay.
- the placement period, lasting at least 10 weeks between semester 4 and 5. During placement period, additional written assignments will be completed. Furthermore, two students visit each other on the farms and discuss their internship experiences.
- a follow-up phase, which includes creating a poster as well as presenting and discussing the agricultural internship during Agro Day I.
