The Dandelion Entrepreneurship Award has been initiated by the ETH Entrepreneur Club and the ETH AI Center. It's aim is to recognize professors for their outstanding efforts to promote entrepreneurship at ETH Zurich. The jury consists of representatives of relevant ETH institutions, such as ETH Entrepreneur Club, ETH juniors, Student Project House and AVETH.

Nina Buchmann, Professor of Grassland Sciences at ETH Zurich, has ranked 5 in Switzerland in the 2022 "Ranking of Top 1000 Female Scientists in the World" by research.com.

Emilia Schmitt has written her doctoral thesis in the Sustainable Agroecosystems group at D-USYS under the supervision of Prof. Johan Six. For her thesis, in which she compared local and global food in terms of sustainability, she has received the 30th Hans Vontobel Award for Agronomy.  

Monika Maurhofer Bringolf has been awarded the teaching award «Golden Owl» by the Association of Students at ETH Zurich (VSETH).

Johan Six, Sonia Seneviratne and Ulrike Lohmann are «Highly Cited Researchers 2017».

A price for the «Most Catchy Presentation» of the Imaging Spectroscopy Workshop 2017 organized by the European Association of Remote Sensing Laboratories went to Dr. Helge Aasen from the Group of Crop Science at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences (IAS).

Professor Emerita Silvia Dorn has been appointed as Co-Chair of the International Entomology Leadership Summit, by the Entomological Society of America (ESA).

Pierre Cothereau, a Master’s student in the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS), has won the Esri Young Scholars Award 2016 for his Master’s thesis “Vertical Vegetation Structure Classifier (VVSC): A novel tool for ArcGIS” and with it the opportunity to present his work to an audience of experts from all over the world.

Ulrike Lohmann, Sonia Seneviratne and Johan Six are listed as “Highly Cited Researchers 2015” by Thomson Reuters.

Martin Ackermann is being honoured as an especially dedicated lecturer whose teaching is exceptional.

In February the “National Academy of Engineering” (NAE) has elected 67 new members and 12 foreign members. Among the new members is also Eawag director, Prof. Janet Hering. The induction took place at the beginning of October 2015.

Prof. Andreas Fischlin has been elected Vice-Chairman of the IPCC’s Working Group II. Andreas Fischlin is a highly regarded climate researcher who has worked in the field for some 25 years and has been one of the authors involved in a number of IPCC reports.

At its meeting on 23 and 24 September 2015, the ETH Board appointed Prof. Dr. Christoph Vorburger as Adjunct Professor of ETH Zurich.

Prof. Janet Hering, Director of Eawag, received the “Distinguished Women in Chemistry 2015 Award” during the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) world chemistry congress taking place last week in Busan, Korea.

Professor emeritus Huw C. Davies has been elected Honorary Member (Fellow) of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics and awarded an honorary doctoral degree by Aberystwyth University.

On 1 July 2015, Prof. Jaboury Ghazoul was appointed as the new incumbent of the Prince Bernhard Chair for International Nature Conservation at Utrecht University.

Prof. Nina Buchmann has been nominated by Switzerland as a member of the Committee on Scientific Planning and Review of the International Council for Science.

Dr. Dörte Bachmann has been honoured with the Hans Vontobel Award for her outstanding doctoral thesis in the area of agricultural sciences. In her thesis, she examines why biomass production of diverse grassland is larger than that of less diverse grassland.

The ETH Board has awarded the title of Adjunct Professor of ETH Zurich to Dr. Werner Eugster, senior scientist and lecturer at the Institute of Agricultural Sciences.

In January 2015, Jaboury Ghazoul was elected President of the Association for Tropical Biology and Conservation for the year 2015.
